Great book that deserves full credit but I did have to read it twice. This book is full of awesome technical details and is amazingly illuatrated. The technical details are great if you understand them.

I'm not casually familiar with the given name for every muscle in the body unfortunately. However, once through the first time, the book is much easier to read the second. This has been a great resource in my yoga practice, which has greatly improved. I will be purchasing the subsequent volumes i Great book that deserves full credit but I did have to read it twice. I am a yoga teacher and found all of Ray Long's anatomy books extremely helpful! Great pictures along with details on every part of the body involved in poses.

The advanced sequence of the Ashtanga Yoga, the third series, demands a high degree of strength and flexibility. A lot of practice and endurance is neccessary to learn it.

But you can get that from a number of other good books. Once you're in the basic pose this book will provide much detail to continue to explore, play and increase awareness and form.

The 4 books in the series have minimal overlap and the portions that do use different poses for the examples. Definately check these out! Exceeded my expectations! I just started reading this and it is awesome.

It is written in a very clear and easy to understand language. The illustrations are sharp and again easy to understand. It is important to me to execute positions correctly and to have an understanding of the muscle groups that will be worked. It shows you how to warm up the pose and also little nuances to get all of the correct benefits. I am sure I will page through it over and over again.

I only wish that in the anatomical Great book. It would be nice to have the two side by side. If you're not sure of the colloquial term for something, you'll have to cross reference it with another resource to find out.
